Some Botched Repairs

You can see remnants of the old panel removed
and where the panel should have gone ( should have been under instead of over).

Closer view of the same

Not even spot or plugged welded in place

Rear Quarter Repaired wrong(brazed welded)

The braze weld did not have the flux
removed before priming or painting,
causing paint to chip away and rust to form.

More braze welding and rust ( this panel will be
removed and done correctly).

More rivets!!!!

More rivets and braze welding.

More darn braze welding(See the rust forming).

Should have been spot or plugged welded(probably
light rust forming under the two panels). I suspect
that no rust protection was done when reviting them together.

  1. Hi Cliff. Nice work. My '77 TR7 fixed head was full of brazed welds, too. Many looked like they had been done at the factory. I wonder if this was common practice?

  2. no not commom practice. these spots could have been reached with spot welder and if not, they should been plugged welded.
